LUMINOUS ENGINE is a game engine developed by Luminous Productions Co., Ltd. Adopted in the company's AAA game title "FINAL FANTASY XV", it is a progressive update of LUMINOUS STUDIO PRO integrated with NVIDIA’s latest technology GameWorks. LUMINOUS ENGINE is an integrated development environment utilizing cutting-edge technologies in various areas such as high-end lighting, rendering environment, animation, advanced physical calculation processing, character AI, and VR.
LUMINOUS ENGINE provides users with the best development environment for uncompromising high-quality and creative realization. Assumed users are not only the game industry but professionals in various fields such as academics, video, architecture, and interactive art. Therefore, in building a new logo and overall brand tone, we kept in mind the professional and high-end worldview.

LUMINOUS ENGINEは、スクウェア・エニックス・グループの新開発スタジオである株式会社Luminous Productionsが開発したゲームエンジンである。同社のAAAゲームタイトル「FINAL FANTASY XV」でも採用されたLUMINOUS STUDIO PROの進化版であり、NVIDIA社の最新技術であるGameWorksが採用されている。
LUMINOUS ENGINEは、ハイエンドライティング、レンダリング環境、アニメーション、高度物理演算処理、キャラクターAIやVRといった各分野の最先端技術が用いられた統合型開発環境である。
enhanced Inc.はこのLUMINOUS ENGINEのロゴ開発に携わった。
Basic logo concept
First, we have set up the following basic concepts in the logo construction of LUMINOUS ENGINE.
● LUMINOUS ENGINE is a brilliant star pointing to the path of the new creation to professionals in various areas.
● LUMINOUS ENGINE users will become shining stars in their area using its advanced functions.
● LUMINOUS ENGINE users will become shining stars in their area using its advanced functions.
Based on this basic concept, we derived several metaphors to construct the symbols.

この基本コンセプトを元に、シンボルを構築するいくつかのメタファーを導き出した。

Metaphors of symbol
A. Luminous Star:
A brightly shining star in the night sky such as the Polaris has led the traveler to the destination as a measurement fixed point for the observation navigation that has not changed since the ancient.
The star in the center of the new symbol symbolizes the "Luminous Star" that leads a traveler.
LUMINOUS ENGINE points new creative paths to professionals in various areas that are its users and leads to higher reach as a destination. Besides, the user sublimates itself as the illuminating Luminous Star in that area, to serve as a guide for the next generation creative.

B. Four Elements (Theory of Four Properties):
The four apexes of the star in the center of the symbol mean the constituent elements of all things in the world derived from four elements (four theories of properties), meaning fire, air, water, earth (or the form of heat, cold, wet and dry). By using LUMINOUS ENGINE, users can create and control the theory of all things in the virtual space and the foundation that supports the world.

C. Four Azimuths (East, West, North, and South):
The four apexes of the outer diamond shape of the symbol represent the four directions of east, west, north, and south. These four directions are the world itself, meaning all areas in the world.
This symbolizes the possibility that LUMINOUS ENGINE will be utilized in various areas around the world.
D. Initial Letter L:
The diamond around the symbol is composed of four L which is an acronym of LUMINOUS ENGINE, and these four Ls create the star in the center of the symbol. LUMINOUS ENGINE is the brilliant star that points to the path of the new creation to professionals in various areas, and it sublimates that user as a brilliant star.

北極星等の夜空に明るく輝く星は、古くから変わらない天測航行の測定固定点として旅人を目的地まで導いてきた。
新しいシンボルの中心にある星は、この「旅人を導く自ら光り輝く星 (Luminous Star)」の象徴である。LUMINOUS ENGINEは、そのユーザーである様々な領域のプロフェッショナルに対して新しいクリエイティブの道を指し示し、目的地としてのより高い到達点へと導く。さらにそのユーザーは、自らがその領域におけるLuminous Starとして光り輝く存在へと昇華し、次世代のクリエイティブのための導き手となるためである。
B: 四元素 (四性質説):
シンボルの中心にある星の4頂点は、四元素 (四性質説)に由来する世界の万物の構成元素、火・空気・水・土 (または、熱・冷・湿・乾という様態)を意味する。ユーザーは、LUMINOUS ENGINEを使うことで、バーチャル空間内における万物の理とその世界を支える基盤を創造・支配することができるためである。
C: 四方位 (東西南北):
シンボル外周の菱形の4頂点は、東西南北の4方位を表している。この4方位はこの世界そのものであり、世界におけるすべての領域を意味する。これは、世界中の様々な領域においてLUMINOUS ENGINEが活用されていく可能性を象徴している。
D: 頭文字L:
シンボル外周の菱形は、LUMINOUS ENGINEの頭文字である4つのLにより構成されており、この4つのLによってシンボルの中央に星が生まれる。LUMINOUS ENGINEこそが、さまざまな領域のプロに新しい創造の道を指し示す光り輝く星であり、かつ、そのユーザーを光り輝く星として昇華させるのである。
