Astellas Pharma is a leading pharmaceutical company in Japan with global business activities. Their philosophy is “to contribute toward improving the health of people around the world through the provision of innovative and reliable pharmaceutical products” and as an R&D type global pharmaceutical company, Astellas Pharma is actively developing businesses.​​​​​​​
Project Background
For large enterprises that operate globally, there are various difficulties in web governance/branding management:

Lack of uniformity in brand message:
• Difficult to disclose properly through each country sites and unify messaging
• Inconsistent looks between countries and regions
• Outdated information kept published
• Guidelines losing enforcement
• Workload to grasp and manage the status

Managing timing of transmitted information:
Difficult to disclose information to all stakeholders in a timely, proper, and fair manner.

Content operation:
Content owner unable to directly update the content, but have complex process via vendor

It is not too much to say that such issues unsolved could majorly impact the unified brand experience of a company.

Project Purpose
• Newly launch the global site and functional and visual renewal of local sites, that enables timely and proper information provided to stakeholders and improves company transparency.
• Acquire a unified understanding of Astellas (enable engagement to Astellas-ness).
Solution
Astellas Pharma adopted Acquia Cloud Site Factory/Acquia Edge Protect as a unified platform for Japan and the global website and also the CI&T Production System by digital technology agency CI&T, a development process most suitable for large scale global web projects. We worked on the above issues from the very top and released a new global website (https://www.astellas.com/) that runs on this unified platform.


Result
To improve company transparency and strengthen brand power, regardless of region or language by the information disclosure policy, the global website provides information in timely, proper and fair manner. 
It is also an initiative to proactively engage dialogues. 
By adopting Acquia, Astellas Pharma is now able to reliably provide information from a more secure and stable website. 
To foster strategically its global brand, by taking "easy to see, easy to use and easy to understand" into account, Astellas Group will continue to provide unified website design and contents. 
Astellas Pharma, starting with the headquarter corporate site, plans to rebuild all the subsidiary corporate sites based on the unified platform. 
Supported by Acquia Inc. and CI&T Japan Inc., this project drives the Astellas Way initiative by executing the digital governance strategy focusing on key pillars including security, time to market, quality, standardization, innovation, and user experience.


What We Did
We enhanced Inc., together with CI&T Japan Inc., is engaged in providing solutions to Astellas Pharma global website. Our role in this project is to improve the "easy to see, easy to use, and easy to understand" design to global quality from UI/UX perspective and build an integrated new web design system.​​​​​​​
Information Graphics & Diagrams
Until recently, information graphics and diagrams varied in looks between countries but also in Japan by vendors, causing the lack of unity in Astellas brand messaging. So we systematically integrated the looks of information graphics and diagrams in EN/JP based on the new web guidelines.​​​​​​​
